Reflective analysis.

Reflective analysis of Cinematography and Mise-on-scene of my final piece.

Story-line:  Homeless teenage boy is trying to survive in the cruel Bristol's district. He's committing robberies and other crimes. At this time he's trying to steal a laptop from typical English house. But at this time it's not going smoothly at all; he has been spotted by house owner. He's jumping out the window and trying escape from the police........................

I started the scene with a quite classic shot: establishing shot; to introduce the audience with location where main action will be going.Very important in this scene is location and the broader contribution made by mise-en-scene; it's realistic and related to the audience in some way. For my main location I choose a typical Bristol house which creates this scene urban and also very familiar to the audience because it's the area where most of the people are living.

In the next sequence I introduced the audience with the main character using a high angle shot which make him to look more powerful. This scene encourages an audience to think about who is this guy. We can see that he's wearing casual clothes (hoody, jeans) and it gives a clue to the audience about his background.
After this there is a wide shot from the characters point of view. As we see he's looking on a laptop through the window and it gives us an impression that he is a thief and he want to steal this laptop.

At the next scene we can see several wide shots. I used them to show the action and location at the same time. We see an urban location and male who's wearing casual clothes - it creates a mood of kind of criminal area where main action is going.
After that I introduced the audience with the second character - housewife which is sitting on her sofa and watching TV. She is wearing common clothes. The impact of this decision is to present her lifestyle as simple to the audience.
Close ups are used to pay audience's attention on activities which thief is doing. We see that he's climbing into a flat. I used a close up on his hands at the moment when he's climbing into a flat to create this scene more intriguing and dramatic. Also I used a close ups to pay attention on characters emotions/feelings. At the scene where housewife meets a thief we can see astonishment in her eyes. It's a peak moment when nobody knows what will happen next. People are using their stereotypes to imagine how this scene will continue.

As the scene proceeds we see several wide shots and high angle shots. We see that thief is taking a laptop, jumping out of a window and running away. At the beginning I thought that it will be better if I will create this scene more attractive with effects of violence but then I changed my mind because at the beginning I asked couple of people how should I present my main character and mostly they answered that they don't want to see main character as a murderer.
